Adventure Travel

Antarctica
Why go to Antarctica? Maybe you have been everywhere else. Or maybe you want the ultimate adventure at the end of the world. Antarctica is a truly magical travel destination that stirs the imagination and fires the blood. Literally every moment is an opportunity for adventure, excitement and discovery - an unforgettable journey into one of nature's last, most remote, and most fascinating strongholds.

Botswana: Stanley's Camp in the Okavango Delta
A short plane ride from Maun, Stanley's Camp in the Okavango Delta is a great first stop for your African safari. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxing and it is one of the only places in the world that you can walk with the elephants. Doug is the trainer who has rehabilitated a small handful of elephants and works with them daily. Walk with the elephants and get up close with them, touching their ears, looking at their teeth, and even having their trunks weigh on your shoulders. Finish off your walk with a lunch in the bush, set picture-perfectly in the shade with the elephants lingering nearby. After a kiss and a wave goodbye from the elephants, you are on your way to a relaxing afternoon, followed by an early evening game drive.

Kenya
Kenya is lush, green and overgrown in the Samburu area where the very fortunate happen upon the lions taking a siesta in the trees. The monkeys are at play all around you as they scamper about looking for their breakfast, then settling into the serious business of grooming their brothers and offspring. The native Samburu people will share their home with you, if you ask, and even tell you about their life a thousand light years away from ours. The more affluent among the chiefs can boast of several wives acquired by the accumulated wealth of numerous cattle. It is to the tribal warriors that the task of building their bodies is assigned. Their solemn task is to perfect their jumping techniques, and occasionally to hunt, as they await the ceremonial entry into manhood.

Peru
Peru is a kaleidoscope of faces, experiences, and adventures. From the Amazon, to Machu Picchu, to Cusco, to Colca Canyon, the scenes change dramatically, as does your interaction with the environment and your physical involvement with the changing scenes around you. Regardless of whether you are actively pursuing an upward trail, scaling a ruin, watching the rainbow of color from the beautiful hats and costumes, or just sitting still absorbing the nature around you, Peru never fails to enchant.

Rwanda
When I think of Rwanda, I think of all the dozens of children who came running over to us and shouted, "Hello, hello. How are you?" They had a smile as wide as a rainbow and just wanted to see us up close and greet us. They were fascinated if we took their picture and let them see it.

South Africa - Singita (Sabi Sands / Ebony & Boulders)
The Singita properties are breathtaking as well as filled with exceptional staff. The outstanding service starts with your arrival at the airport (private landing strip), just 5 minutes from the property, where you are greeted by smiling rangers in open air/convertible Range Rovers.

Tanzania
Only time to go to one country in Africa on safari? Tanzania is the place to see the most animals in the least time! If you travel there during their migration on the Serengeti plains, you will see their legendary zebra and wildebeest by the thousands and see the newborn calves too. The Ngorogoro Crater is like a big bowl full of animals.

Thailand: Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai
Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai are perfect destinations for those looking for something a little out of the ordinary. This trip promises to be educational and is filled with new experiences and wonder. As you ride elephants through the jungle and take wooden flat rafts down the river, you will come across acres of beautiful rice fields as well as locals bathing in the water. The food and fish markets are quite popular as well, as is the trip up the mountain to Long Neck Karen Village where their culture is to add rings around the ladies' necks, arms, and legs for beauty and tradition. The night market runs until the wee hours of the morning, and massages in city center come at a low price of about $10. The Four Seasons Chiang Mai is about 20 minutes from town, but well worth the experience. Abercrombie & Kent specialize in this region as well and offer a multitude of exciting programs.
