Join Seabourn President Pamela C. Conover on the September 11th sailing, the first segment of Seabourn's festive Fourth Annual President's Cruise, and enjoy a host of special events aboard and ashore.
Young Travel & Cruises' travel consultant, Flo Banks, will be onboard to host the Virtuoso Voyager Club and the fabulous complimentary excursion in Katakolon (Olympia) Greece. We will stand in the Olympic Stadium where athletes competed for over a thousand years. We will explore the temples and sacred Altis, and gaze upon Hermes by Praxiteles, some say the most perfect sculpture in existence. We will end with a wonderful lunch and feast on Greek specialties and wine in a four-star hotel overlooking the Kirparissia Bay and Ionian Sea.

Our day begins with a visit to the Monastery of Skafidia, built in the 10th century. We will admire its unique architecture and many historic treasures before our drive to Olympia.
Olympia is situated in the quiet beautiful valley of the Alfeios in the territory of Pisatis. In contrast with most Greek sites, Olympia is pastoral, green and its lushness is returning after the massive brushfires of 2007.Its ruins are shaded by evergreen oaks, Aleppo pines, poplars and olive trees. En route, we will pass by Pyrgos, the modern capital of the province. Upon our arrival in Olympia, we will explore the many wonders of the archaeological site which include the Stadium, Temples of Zeus and Hera, the ancient Wrestling House, and the Altar where the Olympic flame of modern times is lit. We'll also visit the museum to see the sculptures from the Temple of Zeus and the statues of Nike Peonios and Hermes of Praxiteles. The museum also houses a rich collection of statues of Roman emperors and objects used by ancient competitors. We will have some free time at the Olympia Village before departing to our wonderful luncheon!
We'll feast on delicious Greek specialties complimented by wine specially selected for our group. Located on a hill in the beautiful forest of Olympia, this superior 4-star hotel offers a unique view of the Alfeios river valley, the Kiparissia Bay and the Ionian Sea.

Suggested Attire: Casual wear with comfortable, non-slip walking shoes. For the monastery,skirts are required for the women and trousers only for men.
