Ankgor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia, is indeed a fabulous destination for those who love archaeology. The angular designs of the buildings and the high relief depictions of sensuous Hindu goddesses are unlike those of any other place in the world. And they are to be found in the most verdant, lush settings of this tropical paradise.
You feel as if you are transported to another era where modern civilization is totally eradicated, and all the haste and problems of the present age are gone as well. Time does not exist here. It is so beautiful. Our favorite ruins were those set in the middle of a dense woodland area, with huge vines and tree trunks encroaching upon the crumbling walls, creating a surreal blend of a natural and man-made temple. It is a reminder of how transient our life really is, and how in the end, nature will prevail.
