Young Travel & Cruises Proudly Presents
Lynne Leakey - Reknown Africa Tour Guide - and The Great Migration Safari
September 21st-October 2nd, 2010

Lynne Leakey, a native of California, spent her childhood going to the zoo and watching re-runs of Born Free. Lynne soon made her way to Africa and Kenya. Lynne was introduced to Louis and Mary Leakey, named by Life magazine as the leading anthropologists of the twentieth century, and their son Philip. Lynne's subsequent marriage into this well-known Leakey family started her on a long career of observing and studying the wildlife and ecology of East Africa as well as the tribal life of its people.
She lectures regularly on topics such as the social behavior of elephants, the Masai people, and the national parks. She also gives unique safari presentations on responsible tourism and conservation. Lynne's extensive travels have taken her to many destinations worldwide where she has hosted special departures to Antarctica, Ecuador, Indonesia, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, and Tanzania - as well as her home base in Kenya, East Africa. She holds a Silver Label Professional Safari Guide qualification and has joined two Abercrombie & Kent Private Jet Around Africa safaris as part of the guiding team. Lynne's hobbies include wildlife photography, writing, ornithology and SCUBA diving, and spending a few weeks each year in her other home in Sedona, Arizona.
Lynne has escorted safaris in East Africa for Young Travel & Cruises for quite a few years. She has long been noted as one of the most outstanding safari guides in Africa. Her knowledge of the wildlife is extensive, and especially since she is also a professional photographer, she is an ideal companion on safari. She is a great leopard spotter, too!

This safari has everything for both animal lovers and photographers. The wildebeest migration has been called the greatest animal show in the world, and the Masai Mara is an incredible place to see it! And you will be there at the peak time. You will watch the scenes of this mighty migration with the wildebeest, the zebras, and the Thompson's gizelles. You will see the thousands of animals moving together as they graze, and pass through the rivers, truly an incredible sight!
You will see how the lions play with their cubs and teach them how to hunt. You will see the graceful cheetahs as they perch atop the anthills, peering into the distance as they look for their prey. You will see visit the Ngorogoro Crater, where the white rhinos live, and where the earliest man was born. You will see the giraffes as they nibble on the newest sprouts on the tiptop of the trees. And you will see the Serengeti Plain, where the lions, the leopards, the elephants, and the giraffes all play.
Lynne will introduce you to the Masai and the Samburu people. You can even visit their village and their homes. Learn how their lives differ from ours. You will be surprised. Hear how the men can boost their standing in their village by adding more wives and how they pay for them! Hear the success stories of their sons, and their mothers who found a way to educate them, and how Lynne Leakey played a part in some of these stories.
Lynne has guided Young Travel safaris and our clients for many years, and has left a long trail of happy people in her wake. Quite a few people in our area are among Lynne's safari members, and many of them go back to Africa for another visit with Lynne and her animals.
We have reserved space for just twelve of you to travel to Tanzania and Kenya this fall and accompany Lynne on safari during the fantastic migration in the Serengeti. Most people who spend time with the animals in Africa call it "the trip of a lifetime." To witness the migration in the Masai Mara with Lynne Leakey is the ultimate dream trip.
We invite you to come along on this safari and enjoy. It will be very special.
