A short plane ride from Maun, Stanley's Camp in the Okavango Delta is a great first stop for your African safari. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxing and it is one of the only places in the world that you can walk with the elephants. Doug is the trainer who has rehabilitated a small handful of elephants and works with them daily. Walk with the elephants and get up close with them, touching their ears, looking at their teeth, and even having their trunks weigh on your shoulders. Finish off your walk with a lunch in the bush, set picture-perfectly in the shade with the elephants lingering nearby. After a kiss and a wave goodbye from the elephants, you are on your way to a relaxing afternoon, followed by an early evening game drive.

Stanley's Camp in Botswana is a tented property with only eight tents. You can feel the excitement build each morning as the guide walks you to the "lobby" and again when you are escorted to your room for the evening. With a night under the stars and animals making noises throughout the distance, you may flashback to summer camp as a kid - but then you realize those aren't crickets and frogs you hear chirping but hyenas and hippos instead!
